A few notes on what we are trying to build

In 2023 we started Traveling Village, where groups of families travel on multi-months trips organized as a small village with a lot of co creation. In 2025 we launched the first website for Revillage, our big dream of creating a community of families who moves to the same declining village.

Before that and before having kids we also ran a community project, called Refuga. Here we traveled with over 500 entrepreneurs for retreats and adventure trips to Kilimanjaro and North Korea.

On this page we will try to explain the main principles in what we are trying to build. We hope this page can give you a good idea about what we are about and if this could be something for your family.

Step 1: Read our handbook

We have written a handbook that describes how we see things being run and how we commit to this community. Many of the elements here will hopefully never be used, but we find it better to have thought these things through and to make sure we are all on the same page. The handbook also acts, to some extent, as our terms and conditions. By continuing in the onboarding process, you confirm that each adult in your family has read and approved the handbook.

Step 2: Lodging and travel research

In this step, we encourage you to research travel, timing, and lodging, so you are familiar with the logistics and costs before confirming your spot.

While we try not to rush this phase because it's important for families to make the right decision, we do ask to hear back in about two weeks. If you need more time or need more information, we are always available for additional calls.

Step 3: Payment of the signup-fee

To confirm your spot, please transfer the $1,600 signup-fee to:

Account number: 6892890666
Sort code: 5501
IBAN: DK89 2000 6892 8906 66
Swift/BIC: NDEADKKK

Bank name: Nordea
Bank address: Vesterbrogade 8, 1620 Copenhagen V, Denmark
Account owner: Nikolaj Astrup Madsen ApS
Account owner address: Kenny Drews Vej 63, 1th, 2450 Copenhagen SV, Denmark

Please note your family name with the transfer. We will send you an email once the payment has been received.

Please note that the signup-fee is non-refundable.

In earlier Traveling Village editions, families occasionally withdrew shortly before departure, which made it difficult to find replacements and placed a financial burden on the project.

Step 4: Calendar and “One Doc” access

After confirming your spot we will give each adult of your family access to our folders, our shared calendar and the main "ONE Doc". The "ONE Doct" is one centralized spreadsheet containing all relevant information.

5

Step 5: Fill out your family information

A key part of the "ONE Doc" is family information, which helps other families get to know you and supports our planning.

We ask you to fill out full names, birthdays, hobbies, work, where you are from, dietary restrictions, photo and social media policy, and a bit more.

Step 6: Payment of the Community Fund Contribution

From October, we will send out reminders for the Community Fund Contribution, which is $550 per adult and $275 per child (age 2-14).

7

Step 7: Access to the digital town square (Slack)

Around August, we expect to have the full group committed to the village and will start our digital town square. We will send out an invite along with guidelines on how to use it. We will also kick off the community with an online village meeting around this time.
