The role of Village Scouts

We aim to bring two enthusiastic Village Scouts, aged 20-30, on the trip. They will join the full journey, providing stability and enriching the experience for the 20 families in the village.

The Village Scouts will serve as anchors in the Nest, taking primary responsibility for planning, coordinating with locations, and organizing activities for children. They will always be present whenever the Nest is open, ensuring a reliable and welcoming environment.

As members of the village, the Village Scouts will participate fully in communal meals and activities, just like any Traveling Village member. They are exempt from the sign-up fee and community contributions, and their travel expenses are covered by the communal fund.

We are looking for candidates with experience in scouting, alternative education, or similar fields. Most importantly, we seek individuals who are genuinely passionate about this unique opportunity.

While the Village Scouts take the lead in running the Nest, they will collaborate closely with the Nest Workgroup for planning and brainstorming.

We also recognize that some families, such as single parents or working parents, may occasionally need extra support. Outside Nest opening hours, Village Scouts can assist as nannies to help meet these needs.

Local Village Scouts could supplement the team, but having two dedicated Village Scouts fully integrated into the village and present for the entire trip ensures consistency and stability for everyone.
